ICL Introduces Two New Academic Programmes: Master of Management in Healthcare and Master of Business Informatics by Thesis

05/06/2024

ICL Graduate Business School is pleased to announce the introduction of two new academic programmes: the Master of Management in Healthcare and the Master of Business Informatics by Thesis. These programmes reflect our commitment to addressing the evolving needs of industry and academia. The Master of Management in Healthcare focuses on developing leaders equipped to manage and improve healthcare systems, while the Master of Business Informatics by Thesis provides an in-depth, research-oriented approach to the intersection of business and information technology. Both programmes aim to cultivate advanced expertise and foster innovation in their respective fields.

The Master of Management with a strand in Healthcare Management’s curriculum is aligned with the Australasian College of Health Service Management’s Competency Framework, with all ICL papers of the qualification being mapped to such Competency Framework.

The Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) is a leading professional organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in health service management across Australasia. It focuses on providing its members with professional development opportunities, resources, and support to enhance their leadership and management skills within the healthcare sector. The ACHSM has developed a comprehensive Competency Framework designed to guide health service managers and leaders in their professional growth and development. This framework outlines essential skills and knowledge areas required for effective health service management, emphasising leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and ethical governance.

ICL students pursuing a Master of Management with a strand in Healthcare Management may apply for “ACHSM Student Membership”. Graduates working in the healthcare sector may apply for tiered membership categories, subject to their experience in the healthcare sector: “Membership” for graduates just starting in the industry, “Associate Fellow” for individuals who demonstrate sufficient experience, and “Fellow” for highly experienced managers in the healthcare industry.

Our new Master of Business Informatics by Thesis is a cutting-edge degree emphasising research in Business Informatics. This programme prepares graduates to add significant value to enterprises and research-led organisations alike.

The programme adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating informatics and business innovation within a single qualification. It covers core disciplines such as enterprise innovation, IT service management, information security management, digital transformation, project management, and business professionalism. Students will also develop robust research skills through an applied project, bridging the gap between business and IT services in both New Zealand and global contexts.

Additionally, students enrolled in a Research Master’s or doctoral degree programme (PhD) awarded by a New Zealand tertiary institution face no restrictions on their work hours, offering flexibility to balance study and professional experience.
