Thursday, 28 August 2025 | ICL Education Centre
On Thursday, 28 August 2025, ICL Graduate Business School had the privilege of hosting Nalini Dutt, National Manager at AA Home, as our fifth guest speaker in the ICL Speaker Series 2025.
Her presentation, “The Business of Being Bold: Building something within and beyond the job description,” offered a powerful message on the importance of courage, purpose, and adaptability in today’s fast-changing world.
Nalini opened by defining boldness as Courage + Purpose, explaining why boldness is crucial now:
Industries are transforming overnight
Playing it safe often means falling behind
Bold leaders create momentum, inspire teams, and attract resources
She shared her personal bold journey, including a pivotal moment when she made the decision to relocate to New Zealand. Students were introduced to the five pillars of boldness:
Courage
Authenticity
Risk Intelligence
Adaptability
Resilience

Practical tools to build boldness—Evaluate, Envision, Embrace—were discussed, along with common myths about boldness, such as the idea that bold people are never scared or that boldness always requires dramatic actions.
The session ended with a thought-provoking question: “What’s your next bold step?”
Students engaged in a lively Q&A session, gaining practical advice on leadership, resilience, and career growth.
We extend our thanks to Nalini Dutt for sharing her insights and to Paula Ray, Academic Director of ICL Graduate Business School, for organising this inspiring event.
